If one thing’s certain,Astro Bothas been the gift that keeps on giving. Since launch, theGOTY-nominated platformerhas received various levels and additional bots to collect for free. And it’s not done. Today,Astro Botgets a free Winter Wonder update with a new map and more bots.
As you should expect, the winter-themed level is coated with snow and sparkling with festive accouterments. The level features a massive Christmas tree with the expected robot face, and gilded presents can be found throughout.Astro Botglides into the frosty level accompanied by a sleigh pulled by robotic reindeer. It really gets you into the holiday spirit, right? Thankfully, it won’t match the challenge ofthe speedrunning levels.
“This winter update was made with every user in mind, meaning it is a celebration enjoyable for children and adults alike,” Team Asobi Studio Director Nicolas Doucet wrote in thePlayStation Blog announcement post. “So, no hair-pulling challenge this time! 🙂 We had a lot of fun making this special present for you all, and we hope you enjoy it very much, too.”
Astro BotWinter Wonder update level has some requirements to enjoy
Even though the Winter Wonder level itself won’t cause you undue stress, accessing it isn’t as easy as tearing apart cheap wrapping paper. According to Doucet, the game’s story needs to be completed before you can play the level. It does include more bots, though mum’s the word on what they are. My guess? There will be at least one with a Santa hat.
“You will need to have completed the game for this special update to appear,” Doucet explained. “Since we want it to remain a little surprise, we will not say too much, but you should expect a fun-filled level with shiny presents, a good dose of jingle bells, and brand-new special bots to add to your crew!”
Astro Bot‘s Winter Wonder update goes live on Thursday, December 12, at 6 p.m. PT.
