Rayquaza ex is a tricky Pokémon that has the potential to be a powerhouse, but seems to struggle to fit into many decks we make forPokémon TCG Pocket. Despite its energy-less typing and move use, most decks we have tried to fit it into haven’t seen much success.

Its challenging, not impossible—but I should preface that in my testing this morning, it was definitely a very difficult deck to play with no matter what you put it into. I feel like I have managed to find something that works, though, using an old reliable core and throwing Ray in their for good measure.

The rise of Oricorio (Electric-type) from Celestial Guardians is proving to be a problem, though, as its ability negates any damage being dealt to it by an ex Pokémon, so I’ve had to be a little creative when coming up with this deck.

So bear with me on this one as it’s tough to explain.

In essence, I havetaken a basic Dialga ex core and thrown an Arceus ex and 2 Rayquaza ex in there, while trying to provide a lot of options to keep the deck alive for as long as possible. With this deck, your main win condition is still going to be the two Dialaga ex’s giving energy to the backline, whether that’s Arceus ex or Rayquaza ex, while having something like the Shaymin be there to reduce the cost of retreat for quick getaways.

I’ve also added an Oricorio in there mainly for stall, but we aren’t using Electric-type Energy in the deck, instead havingonly Steel-type Energy. So the Oricorio could essentially be taken out, but I’ve thrown into the deck now to see how it fares.

Outside of that, there are Trainer cards and Tool cards that you can change out at your leisure, but for me, the only deck that even has a chance of making this work is Dialga ex and Arceus ex, with the Rayquaza thrown in there to have some fun.

Of course, I’d like to hear what you made, too, though. So please leave your deck lists in the comments for others to test out and have some fun with!
