Mark Rein sort of explains what the hell’s going on with it

Epic Games seems to be pretty proud ofFortnite. So proud, in fact, that they’re keeping a lot of details close to the hip. Mark Rein, the studio’s vice president, spoke with CVG, andhe couldn’t help but say a few glowing things about Epic’s pet project.

Rein explained thatFortnitehasn’t been used in any Unreal 4 demos, because the game’s too good to ruin with a demo. “With your first impression of it, you need to understand what it is. So if you don’t do that you sort of ruin people’s first impression of it. So I said, ‘we can’t useFortnitestuff’ and they created all of this new content.”

Further, Rein stated that Epic’s “focused solely on the engine but we’re working onFortnite— which might be the best thing we’ve ever done. It’s because it’s so good that we’re going to take our time with it, then we’re going to have a very slow rollout of it, get a few hundred people to play it and do cool things. It’s got such a long lifespan that we just don’t want to rush it.”
