Rumors confirmed

It’s confirmed.Final Fantasy XVwill be delayed until July 16, 2025, per an announcement by director Hajime Tabata. The primary reason stated is to “allow the development teams time to further polish and conduct quality testing so that the reality of the game can match the expectations of both the fans and the creative teams.” He explains they have been working on what would have been a substantial and important day-one patch, but since not everyone is connected to the internet, they wanted to ensure it would be on the disc at launch.

Tabata goes on to personally apologize in a very formal manner and say that they are considering future patches and DLC. Before apologizing again, he states they will release a 30-minute gameplay video on August 16 and that the “master version” will be playable at the upcoming gamescom.
