Flashbang Studios, purveyors of weird and creators ofOff-Road Velociraptor SafariandJetpack Brontosaurus, have released a new game. It’s calledTime Donkey, it was made in eight weeks, and you’re able to play it, absolutely free, atBlurst, Flashbang’s own gaming portal.

It’s a 3D platformer/puzzler about a donkey that likes to eat tacos and break things. If that wasn’t cool enough, perhaps you missed the fact that it’s calledTime Donkey.

There’s a trailer after the break that will illustrate howTime Donkeyworks, but here’s the gist in a few sentences:Time Donkeyis your basic 3D platformer at first glance — you control a donkey, you break things, you snack on tacos. The only problem is that the eponymous donk’ is “trapped in the very fabric of time itself, doomed to relive the same 30 seconds again and again.”

In a move reminiscent ofMajora’s MaskandBraid, Donkey can rewind time at the touch of the button while “ghosts” of previous playthroughs go about their business. The trick, however, is that present-Donkey can interact with past-Donkey to snack on more tacos and, presumably, figure out how to get back to his normal life, in which he works in a fast-food restaurant.

I haven’t playedTime Donkeyyet, but even if it sucks, I don’t care. Jesus Christ, it’s calledTime Donkey.
