A lot of people probably feel the same

Even if you don’t care about Geoff Keighley’s opinion on something, you can’t deny the impact he has on the industry. He’s hosted and created multiple programs that have a massive reach, including award shows that pretty much all of you have seen at one point or another.

He also just kicked off a new show called Live with YouTube Gaming, and with its premiere episode he set aside time to talk aboutNo Man’s Sky, and the perpetual saga of “broken promises.” An in interesting aside, Keighley notes how Sean Murray “didn’t really want to be around” him towards the end of development, as he was starting to become increasingly negative about where the game was headed. He then uses the direct comparison to Peter Molyneux, and calls the game “unfinished and repetitive.”

Another intriguing insight is that Keighley partially blames hype culture (and by proxy, himself), stating “maybe the platform we gave him to launch the game was too big, and created this black hole he couldn’t pull himself out of.” I don’t know if there was a falling out or what, but the whole shindig is worth watching for an inside look at the development ofNo Man’s Sky.

Because right now, Hello Games is basically responding tononeof what’s being discussed here, so this might be all we’re going to get.
