‘So long and thanks for all the shoes!’
It was less than two months ago whenRobotoki’sHuman Elementwas showcased with a premier spot during The Game Awards 2014. Today, the studio closes its doors and puts the game on indefinite hold.
According to a report fromJoystiq, studio founder Robert Bowling confirmed the news. Bowling said “This week we have ceased operations at Robotoki, and the development ofHuman Elementis on hiatus. We were actively negotiating a new publishing deal for the premium version ofHuman Element, but unfortunately, I was unable to continue to self-fund development until a deal was finalized.”
Bowling, a former high-profile employee of Infinity Ward working onCall of Dutytitles, opened the studio in 2012.Human Elementwas originally designated to be a free-to-play zombie survival game, but that design was scrapped in November 2014 in favor of the “premium version” that Bowling referenced in his statement.
