Casual fun
I could probably play stressful games all day long without quitting. Sure, it may get frustrating from time to time, but playing these types of experiences is in my blood. But that doesn’t mean that I can’t enjoy everything, and I frequently go back toCrossy Roadsessions (as well asHearthstone) with my wife to unwind.
Crossy‘s monetization formula is starting to gain traction among the mobile world, and the latest title that borrows from that concept isLand Sliders. It’s actually a creation from Prettygreat Games, a developer made up of ex-Halfbrick staff, who was given some seed money from Hipster Whale — the developers ofCrossy Road— so things have come full circle.
The gist is that you’ll literally slide around different characters in search of collectibles, as you complete basic quests, seek out other levels, and unlock more playable avatars. It’s a very simple idea to grasp, and although it does follow an “endless” scheme, the level-based system grounds it a bit so you feel like you actually have some purpose.
There’s also some depth to movement, like the fact that you can move over gaps or water for a few seconds without falling to your doom. If you’re interested, you cangrab it now on iOSfor free — thankfully, it sports a fair microtransaction scheme without a pesky energy system.
