After years of relatively dull LEGO video games, it seems that Traveller’s Tales have finally knocked it out of the park with the release ofLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga—not only has the brick-building compendium seemingly won over critics and fans, but it debuted in the top spot of the UK Charts.
A Warner Bros’ published release, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagausurped Nintendo adventure Kirby and The Forgotten Land in order to capture the coveted No.1 spot. In fact, this latest release in a long,longline of LEGO releases has officially had the biggest UK launch in franchise history, beating out the previous record-holder — 2008’sLEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures— by around 9%.
As noted by GamesIndustry.biz,in terms of physical sales,LEGO Star Wars:The Skywalker Sagais the second fastest-selling game of 2022 to date, beaten out only by Kirby’s latest jaunt. While this may come as something of a surprise, it should be noted that not only is the LEGO franchisehugein Europe, but titles such as FromSoftware’sElden Ringand Guerrilla Games’Horizon Forbidden Westare far more likely to see success in digital form.
Elsewhere in the charts, the success of The Skywalker Saga helped boost sales for previous LEGO adventures, withLEGO Harry Potter,LEGO Jurassic World, andLEGO Marvel Super Heroestitles all receiving sharp sales spikes.LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagais available now on PlayStation, PC, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch platforms.
