Minecrafthas no shortage of imitators, but I never thoughtDragon Questwould be one of them.
Enter Square Enix with its latest creation,Dragon Quest Builders, a “block make RPG” that looks an awful lot like Mojang’s ludicrously popular sandbox game from what little we’ve seen so far.
It’s planned for a winter release in Japan on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation 3.
Dragon Quest Buildersis set in Alefgard, the setting from the first game in the series, which players will now need to restore (with blocks) after our old friend the Dragonlord devastates the countryside.
This reveal followsreports out of Japan Expo, whereDragon Questcreator Yuji Horii indicated the Nintendo 3DS versions ofDragon Quest VIIandVIIImay be coming west — though Square Enix has since declined to officially comment on the matter.
Dragon Quest Heroes, an action-oriented spinoff fromDynasty Warriorsdeveloper Omega Force, is coming to North America and Europe this October andalready has a sequel in the works.
