Oh, and an overwhelming amount of games use their engine — you know, that whole chestnut. That list includes CCP, developer ofEVE Online. The Icelandic-based developer that also has studios across the world re-commited to the Unreal Engine 4 today, noting that it is now the “exclusive development tool for allunannouncedprojects....

The second open-world region inFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthis Junon. There are five side quests in total available when you first reach Junon. Four of the five side quests don’t have choices that matter, but the fifth and final side quests, Dreaming of Blue Skies, has a choice you make at the end that does in fact have a correct answer. Out on January 8 Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Rebornnever fails to astound me. While my group and I may take breaks here and there, we’re always game for a major patch. Square Enix just stuffs so much in every big update, including an expanded storyline, new dungeons and encounters, and in this case: a whole new job (!). Patch 4.5 is called “A Requiem for Heroes,” and will feature the playable Blue Mage job in a regular update just like the Ninja before it, no expansion needed....

Treasure seekers This weekend sees the third anniversary of Nintendo’s incredibly successful mobile battlerFire Emblem Heroes. As part of a FeH Channel broadcast celebrating the event, the publisher raised eyebrows with the announcement of an incoming paid-monthly subscription pass. Locking these latter abilities behind a paywall, (along with the overall public disdain toward paid subscription services in general), has some fans upset at the new scheme. While comments have been turned off on theFeH Channel’sYouTube video,Fire Emblem Heroes’players have been quick to make their voices heard in thealigning Twitter post....

What was previously shown off is now being referred to as a prototype, with a full version of this first-person puzzle adventure game — one which more closely matches the original vision — currently in development. Phosfiend Systems hasposted an updateon its blog alongside a developer diary that walks us through the progress that’s been made and teases what is yet to come. The increased focus on sound seems like a natural fit for the abstract world players will be put in....

Platinum Games director Hideki Kamiya has given a very strong indication that aBayonettasequel is in the bag, revealing to fans that he “believes” aBayonetta 2is on the way. When asked by a fan if another game is coming, he simply stated, “I believe so.” He later added that, “She’ll be back if you believe so.” I’m not quite sure if simply believing in a sequel will make it happen, otherwise we’d have had an entireMetal Armstrilogy by now....

GameStop do what Sony don’t WhenThe Last of Uscomes out on PS4 soon, it’ll be sold for $50. To help alleviate the cost a bit for previous owners of the PS3 version, you can trade-in your old copy at GameStop starting July 27, and pick up the PS4 upgrade for $25. You have until August 2 to take advantage of the deal. For reference, new copies of the game are going for $25 on Amazon and eBay at the moment....

HYAH! Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Editionwas announcedduring Nintendo’s mini-direct yesterday, but not much else was talked about. A vague Spring release window could mean anything, with a release coming as late as June. According to Nintendo Hong Kong, though, we won’t have much longer to wait. As seen on thispress releasefrom the Hong Kong branch,Hyrule Warriors‘ Switch port will be available on August 06, 2025. It will also contain a Traditional and Simplified Chinese translation, which is pretty good news for that region of Asia....

Four inches high I’ve been talking to a fair amount of people aboutHyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition, and they’re torn. On one hand, they’ve played the original for hundreds of hours, lovingly grinding for new items and characters across the game’s adventure maps. On the other,they’ve played the game for hundreds of hoursalready and may want to delve into something new. Either way, if you missed all of the 3DS DLC, you’re probably due for another playthrough....
