killer7’s horrendous AI upscaling fixed in a new patch

killer7is, after about two weeks of relentless review bombing, deploying apatchthat reverts the embarrassing AI-upscaled PlayStation 2 cutscenes to their former (slightly low-resolution) glory. “We have a small update to follow-up the major update,” the patch notes read, “addressing your valuable feedback!” The long and short of the notes is that by default the cutscenes will be their original resolution, with an option to swap back to the AI-upscaled versions in the config tool if you’d like to offensively bastardize Suda51’s masterpiece once again....

Long Japanese Persona 4 trailer is long

Atlus sucks at keeping secrets. I have to congratulateAkayukifor digging these up, as the Atlus website is totally devoid of any information on the game (since, y’know, it doesn’t officially exist yet). Info onP4is sparse, and unless you are fluent in moonspeak, this trailer isn’t going to fix that. The second half of the trailer (available after the jump) shows a bit of gameplay and some combat, both of which should seem familiar if you playedPersona 3(please do)....

Microsoft still missing the point of ‘free-to-play’

Happy Wars can be played by Silver members now, kind of Silver members can play every game mode, except multiplayer, missions, and the Treasure map. Um, thanks? This reminds me of howupset the Wargaming CEOwas over the same issue, and reenforces how outdated the Gold system is now. For those of you that are still playing this though, a new mode was also added called Bounty Hunters. Teams compete over total bounties earned, and the mode is available until January 29....

Nintendo adopted friend codes because screen names weren’t simple and comfortable

Wii beg to differ Which brings us to Nintendo’s friend codes. Originally implemented circa 2006 for the Wii, Nintendo introduced 12-digit numeric friend codes for connecting socially. The system has persisted through the Wii to the 3DS and now the Switch. (It has been especially relevant lately asAnimal Crossinghas people swapping friend codes.) Nintendo has also partially done away with them, as Wii U and Switch make use account IDs similar to Xbox and PlayStation’s setup....

Nintendo has seemingly discontinued the original 3DS

RIP 3DS [Update:Nintendo’s official response is as follows: “Nintendo has nothing to announce about the production status of Nintendo 3DS.”] We have reason to believe Nintendo of America has completely ceased production of the original 3DS model, based on information from retailers and Nintendo itself. Originally, Nintendo had begun to wind down the availability of new 3DS units, relegating the Coral Pink 3DS to a Toys”R”Us exclusive. Since then, the Coral Pink 3DS has been quietly removed from theToys”R”Us website....

Nintendo Switch might get this nifty Joy-Con touch pen attachment

Our first glimpse comes from a patent filed on June 25, 2025 As discovered in a newly-publishedpatent applicationwith the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Nintendo is exploring the concept of a “touch pen attachment” for the Nintendo Switch. That idea might not sound super interesting at first, but the device is appropriately Nintendo-like. This isn’t a simple stylus (which isalready availablefor Switch in certain regions). Rather, the touch pen attachment slides into the side of a typical Joy-Con and works in conjunction with the controller....

Origin accounts hacked, EA keeps victims locked out

Recent wave of attacks hit hard Origin has reportedly been hit by a series of security breaches, as users come to find their accounts have been cracked into and personal details changed. To make matters worse, Electronic Arts’ own security measures ensure victims aren’t resolving the issue. Users affected by the attack are told that their email address is invalid whenever they try to log in. When some users try phoning EA to find out what’s wrong, they get shut down by representatives who refuse to help them without receipt of a valid date of birth — information that the hackers have changed....

Pikmin 4 is happening, ‘very close to completion’

No platform yet As reported by Eurogamer,Pikmin 4is happening. It’s not just in development, but it’s actually “very close” to being done. The word comes directly from Miyamoto himself back in July, which has just been made public. No platform has been specified, but given how far out the NX is, I’m not sure that it’s a safe bet at this point — anything can happen though. I was pleasantly surprised byPikmin 3, and if you count the multiplayer element, it’s my favoritePikmingame yet....
