You be changing your mind VGC is reporting thatUbisoft has decided to back outof E3’s attempted return in 2023. This comesa monthafter they claimed they were finalizing their plans to attend the expo. I suppose those plans are now finalized as being “nope.” Speaking to VGC, a spokesperson reportedly said, “While we initially intended to have an official E3 presence, we’ve made the subsequent decision to move in a different direction, and will be holding a Ubisoft Forward Live event on 12th June in Los Angeles....

Run it, run it to DEATH This coming Friday will see the cinematic debut of Paramount’sSonic the Hedgehog 2,and — by preview accounts — it’s not too bad a flick. A little tropey and a little predictable is what I’m hearing, but it’sSonic the Hedgehog 2starring Jim Carrey and Tails, notThe Florida Project, so it’s fine. It seems that Paramount is already bagging on a big future for Sonic and his pals on the silver screen, with the new movie’s producer, Toby Ascher, openly stating that the team is looking to build a “Sonic Cinematic Universe,” introducing more characters and offering (sonic) spin-off movies/TV properties featuring some of the series’ bit players, such as Sonic’s red rival, Knuckles....

Too bad! It was canceled a few weeks ago. But if you’re so inclined you can either refund your pledge or go for the Switch version. The thing is, it’s just not going to be physical right now....

Pokémon Go has revealed fresh information about Eternatus, with the Pokémon coming to the game in the future during the Max Finale event at the end of August. The announcement came during today’s Pokémon Presents, which showcased a bunch of new information about upcoming Pokémon products, including updates to their live service library, and a bunch of new information about stuff that was coming up for the hit mobile game....

Sequel to Phil Fish’s hit indie title in the works Fez 2was announced at theHorizonconference in Los Angeles today. Aside from a brief teaser trailer, Polytron revealed little else about the project. However, according to the developer’sVimeo page, it looks likeDisasterpeacewill reprise his role as composer for the title’s soundtrack.

‘It’s about playing the game over and over and over…’ TheResident Evil 2remake is a hit. It sold bundles, it’s critically acclaimed, and I’ve barely seen any fans who aren’t happy with it. It’s doing so well amid other Capcom hits that a lot of folks believe the publisher is “back.” Based on an interview with the game’s director in the latest issue of Game Informer magazine, it looks like the series is in good hands....

Could this be related to Separate Ways? The hype for the remake ofResident Evil 4may have died down, but it’s still out there as one of the best horror games of the year. Upon release back in March, itsold millions in quick succession, showing Capcom was onto another winner. In the interim, a lot of you have been waiting for the game’s first major DLC,Separate Ways, which would be a remake of the content from the originalRE4....

Bark at the Moon Resident Evilfans are waiting with bated breath for hot info regardingResident Evil Village, the next entry in Capcom’s blockbuster survival horror franchise. While we’re yet to receive even a hint of a release date, the latest issue of Famitsu states that development of the gothic-looking adventure is over 60% complete. Furthermore, it has been stated thatVillage‘s first-person gameplay has evolved considerably over its implementation in 2017’sResident Evil 7, although further details will have to wait until next month’s issue of Famitsu....

The journeyman director’s director Earlier this week,Lucasfilm fired directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller from the young Han Solo movie. They were six months into production, but major creative differences led to an unexpected and unprecedented split. Today Lucasfilm officially announced that Ron Howard will step in as the new director. Production will resume on July 10th, and the still-untitled film is set for a July 29, 2025 release. Obviously everything’s okay now....

Not that Nintendo doesn’t make new IP, or anything… Super Smash BrothersandKirbycreator Masahiro Sakurai used his weeklyFamitsucolumn, as translated byPolygon, to reflect on being a judge for the Game Designers’ Award at this past Tokyo Game Show. Sony’sUnfinished Swanended up taking the prize. “When we started judging, the votes were so split that I thought more than once that we wouldn’t have a winner at all,” he said. “However, in the end I think we made a good selection, since there are some things to this game you won’t see anywhere else....
