Don’t disappoint DEWEY Steam is back with another game-backlog-clearing exercise for 2020. I barely made a dentlast year, but I enjoyed having a nudge to play – or at leastthink aboutplaying – some of my library’s deep cuts. This time, Steam’sSpring Cleaning Eventhas a little helper companion, DEWEY, the “Smart Home Librarian,” to recommend you games that have been stuck sitting in your library, unplayed and unloved, for too long. By finishing his tasks, you’ll earn a 2020 Steam badge that can be further leveled-up....

Lower price and new markets to broaden console’s reach The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 have each sold in excess of 80 million units worldwide to date. For Microsoft, reeling off the GameCubian sales of the original Xbox, that’s good. Somewhere in a galaxy far, far away Master Chief is doing a little jig. Or twerking. Yeah, that’s the ticket. Sony, on the other hand, is probably not quite as stoked about that figure....

In one of the strongest attacks on Microsoft we’ve seen yet, Sony’s VP of Marketing lashed out at the Xbox 360 and HD-DVD in one fell swoop during an E3 interview with Gamasutra. He started it off with a prediction that HD-DVD will be obsolete in just a few months, but it was the following quote that looks to be the real “money shot” of the interview: “With the Xbox 360 you’ve got an inconsistent design, some have a hard drive, some don’t, and none of them have Blu-Ray, and the HD-DVD will be out of business in a matter of months....

Valve’s Source Filmmakeris now in open beta for everyone. The storytelling tool lets fans have full control over creating animated movies set in theTeam Fortress 2universe. Just head on over to theSource Filmmaker website, and click “Install SFM. It’s FREE.” on the right hand side to get access. There’s already been anumber of insanevideos made by the Valve community. I’m looking forward to seeing the flood of new content now that this is open to the public....

Let’s go, Rose? Capcom has announced that it will be holding a special live stream next week dedicated to the future of its flagship fighting titleStreet Fighter V: Champion Edition. Available for streaming on the Capcom FightersYouTubeandTwitchchannels, the “Street Fighter V: Champion EditionSummer Update” hosts and special guests will deliver news aboutStreet Fighterand its competitive scene, while also revealing brand new characters headed your way in Season V. As you may recall,Street Fighter Vwas planning to enter its home straight after Season IV, but the one-on-one fighter’s ongoing success has encouraged Capcom to deliver one more batch of fresh content....

Activision is banking on that too, as they’ve completely converted the “Modern Warfare” Battle.net launcher listing into “Warzone.” Yep, outside of the tiny little “MW” logo near the giant “Warzone” letters, future players would pretty much never know thatModern Warfarewas offered on the launcher at first glance. The move actually happened in late December, but a lot of folks went to boot up their game over break and just noticed the shift (or their launcher wasn’t fully updated yet)....

The originalShantae title saw the adorable adventurer sashay onto the Game Boy Color back in 2002. Before I say anything, go ahead and watch the teaser for yourself. Basically, it is exactly what you’d think a television show adaptation of theS.T.A.L.K.E.R.series would look like; that was my takeaway. Much like the games, the premise is interesting. But you’re losing the game-specific elements that make them so unique, and modders can’t exactly improve upon the show. There’s a blind puppy, though, so GSC Game World has my attention....
