Nintendo’s Iwata promises a ‘reasonable’ Wii U price

In an interview with Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata, Japan’s Yomiuri Shimbun asked about Wii U’s pricing, which would be a nice thing to know, especially when you consider that the system will be released in about six months. Iwata says that they’re aiming to release their latest console at a “reasonable” price, whatever that means. The 3DS pricing at launch? Not so reasonable. Iwata agrees, and aims to do better with the Wii U: “We won’t make the same mistake that we did with the 3DS, which was considered relatively high by consumers....

Nvidia RTX 5000 no longer supports PhysX, marking the end of a weird, bubbly experiment that ultimately went nowhere

Believe it or not, Nvidia wasn’t always the gargantuan AI-chasing douche-bro of the company that it is today. Once upon a time, we had weird, questionably useful technologies such as Nvidia PhysX, which was objectively awesome and no one will convince me otherwise. Sadly, PhysX is on its way out. Now, to be perfectly clear, it’s not like Nvidia PhysX was at all important for the modern gaming industry. Though it did reach reasonable adoption back in the early 2010s, it’s been effectively defunct for the longest time....

On the fence with Mad Max? Here’s over an hour of gameplay

Imperator? I hardly even know her As much as I loved the recentFury Road, I’ve had a tepid response to Avalanche’s (Just Cause 3)Mad Maxgame, which has looked bland and lacked all the vitality of the film. It’s basically looked like the firstBorderlandsbefore they gave it the cel shaded art style to cover up for being an otherwise grindy, loot-heavy shooter. Seeing some of the chaos going on in this 80 minute gameplay video, and some much more orange, bright sands seems like a step in the right direction....

Pre-order Resident Evil 6 and get an umbrella

Capcom has revealed a rather unique and somewhat tempting pre-order bonus to those who decide to pre-order their copy ofResident Evil 6:a free “full size” Umbrella Corporation umbrella. The umbrella comes complete with its own custom sleeve to carry it around in and the umbrella itself bears the “Umbrella Corporation” logo so, please, do look out for any agents that may take offence. Capcom stated that “the only catch is you need to place your order through theCapcom Store” so it appears – for the time being at least – that this is a Capcom Store exclusive....

Hunt or be hunted Turtle Rock is best known for creating theLeft 4 Deadfranchise. Raids are a cool idea, but like all things Pokemon Go, need refinement

Kick it up a notch before legendaries come into play Forging co-op groups against a common foe, fighting, earning rewards, and getting a chance to capture your quarry inPokemon Gois a blast. I’m talking of course about raids, a new mechanic that was introduced several weeks ago, and is now available to level 20 and above trainers after being gated with higher requirements. It’s a great feedback loop, but the entire system needs work before the major rollout....

Rapid Blaster Deco coming to Splatoon 2 this weekend

Fabulous-looking shotty on the way It’s Friday, thus time for a new weapon to hit the arsenal of Nintendo’s team-based shooter,Splatoon 2. This week sees the implementation of a high-fashion variant of the Rapid Blaster, the Rapid Blaster Deco. Although its look and name conjure up thoughts of an automatic weapon, such as the MP5, the Rapid Blaster actually has more in common with the shotgun class, providing a strong-but-steady rate-of-fire, rather than peppering the opposition with ink....

Refreshingly, there are no major DLC plans for Devil May Cry 5 outside of one big free update

I’ll take it, it sounds packed as-is Oh hey,Devil May Cry 5is back afteran 11-year hiatus between numbered entries, and I can’t’ wait to rip into it. But after all is said and done, it seems like Capcom is content with letting the typical “extra characters/difficulty levels/modes” concept carry on the spirit of the game, as they aren’t planning any DLC at this time. Yep, once the free Bloody Palace (read: challenge rooms) update arrives, that’s it forDevil May Cry 5, producer Matt Walker confirms that there are no current plans for other add-ons....

RUMOR: Tekken Vs. Street Fighter in the works

I find this one hard to believe for several reasons. For one,Street FighterandTekkenplay nothing alike, so combining them would surely necessitate the alienation of one or both of the series’s fan-bases. Secondly, Capcom doesn’t generally announce a newVs.game until the last one they’ve announced has been released. Why should they compete against themselves by announcingMarvel Vs. Capcom 3andTekken Vs. Street Fighterin the same time-frame? Also,Tekken? Really?Does anyone playTekkenanymore? Still, I hope this rumor is true....
