‘Less grindy’ We’re nearing the end of the first Mastery [Season] Pass forMagic: Arena, and the whole run has been a rollercoaster. First up, Wizards did the unthinkable and added an XP cap to the pass, forcing people to play daily if they wanted to maximize their progress. That was swiftly changed to a more lenient “15 games per week plus quest XP” cap, but the cap existed nonetheless. There was still an element of FOMO (fear of missing out) inherent in the pass, as there was no way to grind out XP on your own time: you had to follow the schedule Wizards set, including limited-run bonus XP events....

The Bild, Europe’s best-selling tabloid newspaper, is reporting that they know the release date for Nintendo’s 3DS handheld system. According to their edition published Sunday, the 3DS will launch in Japan on November 11th, 2010. The paper goes on to suggest the device will “probably” appear in Europe sometime in the first quarter of 2011. Nintendo is expected to make their formal announcement regarding the 3DS release later this week, so we’ll know sooner rather than later whether Bild really has the goods here....
Might be a port, might not Dr. Serkan Toto, the CEO of a Tokyo-based game industry consultancy, has taken to Twitter to reveal some inside information from an unnamed source. Supposedly, Bandai Namco has several titles in development for Nintendo’s upcoming hardware codenamed NX, one of which isSuper Smash Bros. Toto says he is unsure of when exactly the NX will launch, and there is no word on whether this will be a brand new game or a port ofSuper Smash Bros....
Destiny 2has a new activity featured for the 2025 Guardian Games, and it’s just what the game needs. Rushdown pits players against encounters from Campaigns and other narrative missions, revitalizing content that would otherwise remain unplayed. The only problem with Rushdown? It’s only around for three weeks. There’s a ton of content inDestiny 2, but only so much of it is regularly experienced. The game has myriad Exotic, Campaign, and other missions, but most players will only play through each once, if at all....
