We talked to THE Tolkien Professor about the Gollum and Moria Lord of the Rings games

The emphasis in his title is fairly undisputed at this point It’s fair to say thatThe Lord of the Rings(and by extension, The Legendarium, a catch-all term that covers J. R. R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth works) is a huge part of my life. I’m writing this now listening to the soundtrack of the Peter Jackson trilogy, after having come back from a four-player session ofThe Lord of the RingsLCG co-op card game....

What is Red Faction Battlegrounds?

I don’t know what Red Faction Battlegrounds is, but it is a thing. THQregistered a website domainfor this name on August 10th. The name makes me think of a light version of a franchise game, but don’t take that to heart. It could be some full-blown console experience with lights and laser beams and whatnot. Maybe sourcesuperannuationis onto something. They say that the title sounds like a portable thing meant to be played in short bursts....

Where to find Halsin in Baldur’s Gate 3 Act 1?

Baldur’s Gate 3is a phenomenal game, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t moments of confusion as you seek to deliver the smackdown to the Absolute and its cronies. At several moments in the game, things happen that don’t seem to make a lick of sense — and one of them can be found in the earliest part of the game’s first act. Halsin, a druid living in the Emerald Grove whom you can invite into your party, has gone missing, and finding him can feel like a chore if you’re not sure where to start....

Zelda Echoes of Wisdom: Best dungeon order

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdomdoesn’t havea linear dungeon order, which you probably already know if you’re here. After clearing the first dungeon, two open up. After those two, another three become available. Nothing really indicates which you should do first. That’s because thereisn’t an order you need to do them in. You won’t hit any roadblocks regardless of which path you take, so you’re free to approach them however you want....

Blaseball announces Short Circuits, a series of temporary experimental universes

Back into the surreal It’s time to head back out to the diamond. Developer The Game Band has announcedBlaseball: Short Circuits, a series of short, temporary universes in which it will explore some new features forBlaseball‘s future. Blaseball, if you’re unfamiliar, is a sort of surreal fantasy sports simulation where fans back their favorite teams and watch as they play a whole season of “baseball” in a week. I use air-quotations becauseBlaseballis all about bending the rules; in its first eras, teams saw players get incinerated, had to navigate the vast expanse of the universe, and fought a peanut god....

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is getting a remake

We’re only a couple minutes intoThe Game Awards, and the World Premieres are already coming. Kicking off the show, a remake of 2013’sBrothers: A Tale of Two Sonswas announced. The trailer is certainly in the “teaser” territory more than anything. We see some prettier versions of locations from the original game, as well as some gameplay featuring the titular brothers. Honestly, it’s been so long since I’ve even seen the original game that I can’t really compare much from memory....

Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena trailer has story and gameplay

Atari could give us fourteenChronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athenatrailers a day and I wouldn’t get bored — I don’t have a Riddick overload button, apparently. Either the guys at Starbreeze Studios have an awesome video editor or what we’ve seen thus far is an accurate depiction of what will be a great game. I’m guessing its the former with a sprinkle of the latter. Likealltheothers, this trailer (located after the break) is no slouch....
