This takes me back WhenBloodstained: Ritual of the Nighthit Kickstarter, it immediately became one of the biggest video games ever funded on the platform. Its initial $500,000 goal was quickly eclipsed, and by the time the campaign ended more than five million dollars above that, Koji Igarashi pledged and promised a bevy of stretch goals for the game. One of those goals, located deep in the basement at the $4.5 million dollar mark, was for a Prequel mini-game for PC and consoles....

Nomura covers himself about cover Thelatest screenshotsof the highly-anticipated and long-awaitedFinal Fantasy VIIremake caused some concern among fans. A still of the protagonist, Cloud, leaning up against a crate to shield himself from enemy fire worried fans that the game would rely on cover. Director Tetsuya Nomura addressed those concerns today, explaining that cover is optional and was shown to demonstrate the “seamless” actions possible in various contexts. He again confirms that battle is action, not command based, which allows for “flashy battles” such as adding “map destruction” to the Guard Scorpion fight....

September 26 Fusions are easily my favorite part ofDragon Ball Z. Even when they got wacky by adding both earrings and fusion dances into the mix, I was all over it. Thankfully,Dragon Ball FighterZis welcoming yet another fusion character into the mix. Although interest has waned forDragon Ball FighterZ(it went fromthe number one gameat EVO 2018to the seventh most entered in 2019), Arc System Works and Bandai are still putting out DLC for it, with the next wave set to arrive on September 26 (as revealed by V-Jump magazine)....

Finally a game worth of the moniker ‘GOTY’ The crazy brilliance of Yoko Taro and the fluid action of Platinum Games came together last year to craftNieR: Automata. It was a masterpiece. Its legacy could have just died in 2017, but it got multiple kicks from ongoing DLC and an Xbox One port, going on to sell above Square Enix’s expectations. Now it’s seemingly getting a Game of the Year edition....

Shots fired, Oculus! Yay! Titles! Sony announced that CCP’sEVE Valkyrieand Square Enix’sThiefwill be among the playable demos tomorrow on the GDC show floor for theirnewly announced Project Morpheus virtual reality headset.
