Do what you want ‘cos a pirate is free Vintage gaming fans would be forgiven for thinking this week’s Arcade Archives release looks a mite familiar. Now available to download on PS4 and Nintendo Switch, Taito’sPirate Petebear more than a passing resemblance to an earlier Taito release. Perhaps the first-ever example of a video game remake? Not quite. The truth is simpler… and more litigious. Released to arcades in 1982,Pirate Peteis a reworking of Taito’s ownJungle King, which hit the scene earlier that same year....

Rayman creator doesn’t like Mario games

Nobody could be blamed for assuming that anybody who developers platform games has been influenced by theMario Bros.franchise. Not in the case ofRaymancreator Michel Ancel, who has confessed he’s not really intoMario. “I will tell you something terrible — I don’t really enjoy playingMariogames,” he confessed. “I don’t like gliding, I don’t like its inertia, and I don’t like not being able to give some slaps!...

Surprise, you can still see Tracer’s ass in Overwatch with her new pose

Asspocalypse 2016 has ended? Remember when Blizzard decided toremove a pose for TracerfromOverwatch? You couldn’t possibly forget, as the internet hasn’t stopped arguing about it since it happened, blaming each other and just being all-around unpleasant. Well, fret not, as the new pose has now been implemented and you’re able to still see Tracer’s buns in her unrealistically skintight suit. Surprise, surprise, it looks better Square Enix has released a comparison trailer for its upcoming remaster of the 2008 RPGThe Last Remnant, which released last-gen on Xbox 360 and is currently back in development for re-release on the PS4. What are your experiences with arcade gaming?

Like roughly 90% of the rest of the world, I spent the days leading up to Halloween watching the second season ofStranger Things, which takes place in 1984. Back in those days, multiplayer meant crowding around an arcade cabinet watching someone rack up a high score or button-mashing against a friend one-on-one....
