Glass Bottom Games’ adorable skateboarding simSkateBirdhas unfortunately been hit with a new delay and is now expected to arrive later this fall. The developercites several bugsat the umpteenth hour as having slowed shipping, with the title now expected to hit Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch platforms on its new release date of September 16.

“This wasn’t an easy decision,” said Glass Bottom Games founder Megan Fox. “ButSkateBirdwas always a game about doing your best, and we owe it to our backers, fans, and fellow bird enthusiasts to ship the game in its best state. As a small indie studio, completing certification on multiple platforms requires plenty of extra work. Launching on Sept. 16, 2021 lets us ramp up our efforts to ensureSkateBirdcomes to PC and consoles on the same day!”

As a quick refresher,SkateBirdwill tell the story of a cute little birb who attempts to reignite its owner’s forgotten love of skateboarding by mastering its own sick tricks. With creative courses built around household rooms and objects, SkateBird will task players with guiding their little pal through a variety of courses, while also unlocking neat customization options to ensure that you’re the best-looking bird on the block.

At launch, players can also expect extra content including the new “Skate Heaven” stage and the “much-requested” Pet the Bird mode. Glass Bottom Games will use this delay development time to fix any remaining issues inSkateBird, while also fine-tuning the game’s camera, UI, and array of mission objectives.SkateBirdis still something of a dice roll, but nobody can deny the passion and dedication of the development team, who have been slogging away at the title for many years now. I can’t wait to check out the finished product when it’s finally ready to hit the half-(drain)pipe.
