Living the dream

I didn’t know how badly I needed a violent samurai take onCalifornia Games‘ surfing mini-game until I had one in my life.Farmer Gnome, who you may remember fromFistful of Gunand a bunch of other small experimental games, just releasedSurf Shogunfor free on itch.io, and I can tell you it’s a pretty good way to kill a lazy Sunday morning.

Up to four players can ride the waves and slash through endless packs of renegade ninja surfers with a variety of swords, shuriken, and spears. The score multiplier increases the longer you spend in the air, so you’ll want to make your maritime executions as gnarly as possible. A fun little game to pass the time with and wax nostalgic about a 1980s that never quite existed.
