Your day has come, Suda51 fans

While I think the image above (viaFamitsu) does an excellent job of communicating what the new project from Grasshopper Manufacture and Kadokawa Games is all about, we thankfully have a bit more to go on than that forKiller is Dead. As translated byPolygon, this week’s issue ofFamitsuhas quoted Goichi “Suda51” Suda as saying “Development has already been ongoing for an extended period of time” and that the title will be released in Japan this summer.

“It’s the first game in the ‘assassin’ series that Grasshopper Manufacture has worked on in a while, a title that picks up whereKiller7andNo More Heroesleft off,” he stated.Killer is Deadstars Mondo Zappa, a well-dressed man who is sent to execute assassins across the globe. He’s got an arm that can turn into a drill or a gun, and presumably plenty of things in-between. No big deal.

“It’s not trying to regress into the past,” Suda said. “We’re trying to make a game that we’d only be able to make right now, at this point in time. The result is seen in our unique high-contrast shading seen in the graphics, as well as the high speed wrestling-like action.” This sounds right in line with what one would expect the studio to be working on, doesn’t it?
