So, this is mighty strange. Japanese director Takashi Miike, famed for intensely violent films likeIchi the KillerandAudition, is going in a very different direction for his next film project. Speaking with The Huffington Post at Cannes, Miike said, “It is a very light comedy that I am filming now, a court drama, based on a video game, the Nintendo game DS.”
I don’t want to say that Takashi Miike is making a film based on theAce Attorneyseries. Not that I can think of any other game on the DS set in a courtroom which is a light comedy or because I think Miike should not do such a thing. In fact, I’m sure such a film would be weird and wonderful. I just don’t want to jinx it or get my hopes up.
