Fifteen games available at retail by year’s end
Like Microsoft, Sony has seen fit to bombard us with a list of upcoming games for their next-gen platform, set to launch this November. Of the 180 PlayStation 4 titles reportedly in development — roughly 80 of which we can confirm — 15 titles will be physically available at retail during the launch window of November 15, through December 31.
Of those, 12 will appear on other platforms. While those numbers may seem a bit tragic at first glance, it should be noted that Sony’s digital offerings provide a slightly more diverse array of games from both major and independent developers, resulting in a combined total of 33 games to be released by year’s end.
It’ll be interesting to see howDriveClubwill stand up against established racing franchises such asGran Turismoand Codemasters’Grid, and thanks toPlayStation Plus, many of us will have a first-hand opportunity to put that the test. From what I’ve seen so far,Killzone: Shadow Falllooks to be a decent follow-up for the series, but I’ve become so jaded with first-person shooters in general that it’ll take a lot to impress me. As for indie titles, I’m really looking forward to the fast-paced ninja platformerN++, as well as Digital Extreme’s third-person co-op shooterWarframe, the latter of which is free to play at launch.
Once again, PlayStation 4 will be launching in32 countries worldwideby the end of the year, starting with North America on November 15 where it’ll retail for $399, followed by Europe and Latin America on November 29. European gamers can expect to pay €399, while it’ll retail for £349 in the UK — no word yet on any other countries.
For your convenience, we’ve separated the full list into the several categories below.
