That bastion of early announcements, the Korean Video Game Ratings Board,has issued certificatesto PS4 releases of two of Konami’s classicCastlevaniatitles:Rondo of BloodandSymphony of the Night,under the title ofCastlevania Requiem.
Castlevania: Rondo of Bloodwas first released in 1993 for the PC Engine. It tells the story of Ricther Belmont, who treads the boards of Dracula’s castle in efforts to save his abducted love, Annette.Rondo of Bloodreceived praise at the time for its great visuals, deep sense of adventure and multiple pathways and characters. It would be remade for the SNES asCastlevania Dracula X/Castlevania: Vampire’s Kiss.
No introduction necessary,Castlevania: Symphony of the Nightis the 1997 sequel toRondo of Blood. Launching on the PlayStation,SOTNsees Alucard, son of Dracula, journey into his father’s homestead in Richter’s footprints. Featuring amazing music and animation, a huge map, great bosses and a plethora of secrets,SOTNis thought of by many fans as one of the greatest video games of all-time.
Whilst we’re yet to know exactly what formRequiemwill take, it’s entirely possible that we could be seeing another release ofThe Dracula X Chronicles,which combined the two titles for the Sony PSP, tweaking the titles and adding new features, voice-acting and sound effects. This is purely guesswork on my part, however.
