South Africa sees the biggest hike
Xbox Live Gold prices are going up in six different countries and most of you’re able to stop holding your breath, as the afflicted are: Austria, Hungary, Israel, South Africa, Sweden, and Turkey.
In South Africa, the monthly price has tripled, from USD equivalent of $3.25 per month to $10.33 per month — which is, of course, in line with the United States price of $9.99/month. Other hikes should end up “normalizing” at the equivalent.
Microsoft offered the following statement toGame Informer: “We occasionally update pricing in a given market to provide a balance of service and value, and in some instances, meet currency fluctuations within the region, and will be adjusting the price of Xbox Live Gold subscription in a small number of markets on Jun 14, 2025. We do so always keeping in mind that our goal is to offer our members the premium gaming and entertainment service at a fair price.”
