Square Enix’s robot shooter Figureheads is coming to PS4 with Xenogears costumes

Already on PC Japan gets all the cool mech stuff. Over in the east, Square Enix has yet another franchise inFigureheads, a free-to-play tactical shooter for PC. I hear it’s actually good, so it’s great that we may see a better chance of a localization now that it’s hitting PS4 on March 9. Along with the port it’ll bring a PVE mode where teammates can fight superbosses. Oh, and it also has aXenogearscostume set (Weltall, Brigandier, Siebzehn) if you pre-register....

TGS: In which I don’t understand Metal Gear Social Ops

While at the Konami booth at Tokyo Game Show today, I made a concerted effort to playMetal Gear Solid: Social Ops, a team up between Kojima Productions and mobile juggernaut GREE. It didn’t go particularly well, but I can’t really fault the game for that since I couldn’t read any of the highly necessary game text. Near as I can tell, the game seems like a simplified version ofPortable Ops,featuring characters and settings from at least a few portions of theMetal Gearfranchise....

The Daily Hotness: Don’t blame the Tryptophan

For years I’ve been told that the near-coma most experience after plowing through turkey, ham, potatoes, green beans, fresh bread, stuffing, and countless, various pies is caused by the amino acid tryptophan found in turkey. That’s just a way to justify eating so f*cking much though, isn’t it? “I just ate 14 plates of stuffing and I’m so sleepy… damn tryptophan.” (I won’t tell). Go back to sleep. The past two days were pretty light reading, but we reviewedSerious Sam 3: BFE,our Holiday shopping guides are ready for browsing,I am Aliveproducer retcons his previous statement, apparently Sony and Nintendo should both stop making consoles, The Sun is still trying to be The Sun, and more happened from 11/24-11/25....

There’s a Gabe Newell Simulator on Steam

Is this eligible for The Game Awards? There’s aGabe Newell Simulatoron Steam Early Access and it costs seven American dollars. The entirety of that sentence should be enough for you to make a purchasing decision, right? For what it’s worth, I think a Gabe Newell simulator could absolutely be funny. Anything can be funny, but this might be the perfect time for a cutting satire of the most powerful man in digital gaming....

This new iOS controller from Signal looks familiar

So far there have been three iOS controllers — theMOGA Ace Power, theLogitech Powershell, and theSteelSeries Stratus. All three of them have their own advantages, but one common flaw — they’re all $99. Competition is always great, and the good news is, there’s a fourth option coming — the “RP One” from Signal. The bad news? It’s still $99. This controller is functionally similar to the Stratus in that it’s Bluetooth based (wireless), but it’s considerably larger to provide a “full scale” iOS console experience....

What can you say you accomplished in 10th grade? Me? Not so much: I beat a lot of RPGs, flirted with girls, and played piano for lunch money.
