A shadow possessed … A spirit released … A journey taken Okage: Shadow Kingis heading to PlayStation 4 next week, according to thePlayStation Blogcast. Originally released for PlayStation 2 in 2001, this role-playing game follows the exploits of a young boy who becomes possessed by the spirit of an evil king and sets out on an adventure. The JRPG is perhaps the most high-profile project to come out of obscure Tokyo studio Zener Works, which has since focused on online games and mobile apps, such asDragon Quest: Monster Paradeand theMetal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroescompanion app, among other, less-recognizable titles....

Amazon used to be on that list, but it would seem that all PSN content has been pulled from the Amazon market. Inspired by Castlevania DS and the Souls series Ska Studios certainly has a style all its own. It’s never the final fantasy Square Enix. Who hasn’t heard that name before? FromFinal FantasytoTomb Raider, the publisher owns many of the biggest franchises in gaming. But a comment from Gamemaniac3434 recently got me thinking. Responding to his claim that Square Enix designs are pointlessly complex, I started dumping simple and clean artwork from some of their games… And I realized something. For a company this well known, it’s difficult to pinpoint its identity....

Christmas is all about buying games for yourself A screenshot of an email to a Steam developer has made its way way onto Reddit, and the email shows that the Steam Holiday Sale will start on December 19th and run until January 2nd. The email clearly says that the developer shouldn’t make the dates of the sales public, but I guess they decided to ignore that and share it anyway....

I know! While this CGI trailer isn’t likely to be totally representative of the final, in-gameMapleStory 2, it’s pretty damn adorable. It looks a bit like something out of Sony Pictures Animation. And those ample mushrooms are so cute! I’ve never playedMapleStory, but I know that it’s still going strong today, which is impressive. It will be interesting to see how weathered fans and inquisitive newcomers react once it hits beta early 2014....

Divebombing your free time Wargaming sends word that their free-to-play flight combat MMO,World of Warplanes, has now gone into open beta. You’re invited to jump into a plane now in North America and Russia, with a July 4th open beta date coming to Europe. Expect 15 vs. 15 PVP in planes from the 1930s through the 1950s, from USA, Soviet Union, Germany and Japan. Nearing the end of this open beta, Wargaming will launch their Unified Premium Account system, allowing players ofWorld of TanksorWorld of Warplanesnab a premium account and see its benefits apply to the other game....

When I checked out the upcoming indie puzzle-platformerWarpatPAX Eastearlier this year, I saw a short demo that its developer, Trapdoor, had designed to show off the game at the show with two powers, “Warp” and “Frag.” They’ve sinceunveiled two more, “Echo” and “Swap,” and I recently got to spend some time playing around with them. As a cutesy orange alien named Zero whom scientists have imprisoned in a well-guarded underwater testing facility, each ability at your disposal gives you only more creative ways to toy with — or take vengeance against — your human captors....
